TITLE: Senior Data Developer
LOCATION: Stamford, CT
JOB SUMMARY: Assist stakeholders in defining requirements for data capture that answer business questions and outcomes. Perform data analysis and gather metadata of source systems to facilitate requirement feasibility analysis. Create complex mapping using transformations including Source Qualifier, Router, Filter, Expression, Sorter, Aggregator, Normalizer, Joiner, Rank, Sequence Generator, Connected, Unconnected Lookup, and Update Strategy. Transform Logical Data Model to Physical Data Model ensuring the Primary Key and Foreign key relationships in PDM as well as consistency of definitions for Data Attributes and Primary Index considerations. Prepare low level technical design document and participate in build/review of BTEQ Scripts, Fast Exports, Multiloads, and Fast Load scripts. Review unit test plans and system test cases; provide support during system tests, product integration testing, and UAT. Integrate various data sources including Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, Fixed Width and Delimited Flat Files, DB2, and XML Files. Optimize and tune Teradata views and SQLs to improve the performance of batch and response time of data for users. Use Teradata Data Mover to copy data and objects from one system to another. Create and maintain source-target mapping documents for ETL development team; engage in performance tuning of Informatica ETL mappings using caches and overriding SQL queries as well as by using parameter files. Develop ETL processes, programs, and solutions in accordance with established standards; diagnose moderate to complex issues. This position does not directly supervise any team members, and instead, the position's supervisor, Director, Database Marketing, directly supervises team members.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field. 5 years of experience using SQL, Shell Script, Oracle, and Teradata to analyze and manage data in database; utilizing database design principles, including normalization, denormalization, indexing, and portioning; with data modeling tools such as ER diagrams or UML; utilizing database APIs and libraries, including JDBC and ODBC; optimizing database performance and troubleshooting issues related to query optimization, indexing, and storage; with data warehousing including ETL processes and data visualization tools; and 2 years of experience using Python to analyze and manage data in a database.
