Job summary

GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Center Power Systems for an office-based role in Dallas, with field assignments during construction and commissioning. You will review electrical design, perform power system analyses, and support EPC collaborations to ensure high availability in data centers.

The role focuses on ETAP modeling, N+1 reliability, BESS/UPS integration, and close coordination with vendors, contractors, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent internationally accredited program.
• Typically 8+ years of electrical power systems experience.
• Experience carrying at least one data hall electrical scope through design, construction, and commissioning.
• Experience working within an EPC or design-build organization, including field assignments during construction, startup, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Review single-line diagrams, load and diversity calculations, equipment specs, grounding/bonding, cable sizing, busway sizing, and EPMS architecture.
• Evaluate contractor studies covering load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and harmonics.
• Review breaker and relay settings for consistency with design and operating scenarios.
• Perform independent verification calculations and develop power system models using ETAP.
• Confirm applicable equipment listings and code compliance before procurement release.
• Present technical findings and recommended actions to the Design Authority/ SME.
• Assess N+1, 2N, and redundant architectures against availability targets (99.99%/99.999%).
• Review FMEA, arc-flash performance, and conduit for high-density AI/HPC loads and rapid changes in demand.
• Review multi-megawatt UPS sizing, modular vs monolithic architectures, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Verify BESS controls for load smoothing and ramp-rate management, including interaction with UPS and generation.
