Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center and Mission Critical team. The role focuses on heat rejection, HVAC design, and scalable cooling solutions for data centers, with flexibility for remote work and occasional travel.

You will work with global teams on high-profile projects, perform CFD analyses, ensure redundancy, and contribute to energy-efficient designs. A PE license and 8+ years in data center mechanical/electrical systems are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data center mechanical/electrical systems design and operation.
• Strong background in HVAC system design for data centers and mission-critical facilities.
• PE license is required to practice engineering in the US.

Responsibilities

• Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design for data centers with scalable cooling solutions.
• Cooling System Selection including air/water side systems and containment.
• CFD Analysis to optimize airflow and identify hotspots for efficient cooling.
• Design redundancy and fault tolerance for continuous operation in data centers.
• Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for IT equipment and facility.
• Implement energy-efficient HVAC strategies (economizers, VSDs, energy recovery).
• Coordinate with electrical and other trades to integrate HVAC with UPS and fire suppression systems.
