Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Data Center Detailed Design & MEP Execution Lead to drive executive‑level technical and delivery leadership for hyperscale, colocation, and mission‑critical data center programs. You will assemble and lead teams, translate client criteria into constructible designs, and deliver through construction documents and administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural, civil, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in engineering and design delivery for complex buildings or mission‑critical infrastructure, including substantial data center design experience.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary MEP and supporting design teams on large or concurrent projects.
• Experience leading design through construction documents, permitting, procurement support, construction administration, commissioning support, and issue resolution.
• Demonstrated accountability for engineering scope, schedule, budget, quality, technical risk, discipline interfaces, and client‑facing technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary data center design execution from concept through construction documents, procurement support, and closeout.
• Establish the design execution plan, schedule, deliverables, and interfaces.
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, civil, architectural, and other interfaces.
• Ensure designs meet reliability, redundancy, maintainability, energy, and future expansion goals.
• Lead integration of power, cooling, controls, and campus infrastructure with data halls and core systems.
• Coordinate design reviews, set ownership, track actions, and escalate where needed.
• Own engineering delivery performance for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
• Mentor data center engineering managers and design leads; build repeatable practices and templates.
