Job summary

Hut 8 Corp. seeks a Controls SME to join a data center build within our Managed Services team. You will review designs, oversee vendor scope, and witness commissioning to ensure operability, maintainability, and trustworthy turnover. This role emphasizes collaboration with construction and operations teams.

You will lead operability reviews, conduct QA/QC, verify turnover packages, and train site staff on controls systems, PLCs, and alarm logic in a fast-paced, critical environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of controls experience in programming, start-up, and commissioning of complex systems.
• Bachelor's degree or trade certification in a related field; 3+ years of controls industry experience may be considered in lieu.
• Experience in critical environments and procedure-based work.
• Theoretical and practical understanding of control equipment and systems: design, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, construction.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems in critical facilities.
• Fluency in sequence-of-operations: read, catch gaps, test behavior.
• Rigor in turnover documentation: backups, config files, version control.

Responsibilities

• Review controls designs (BMS/BAS, EPMS, SCADA, PLC-based controls) with an operations-focused lens.
• Provide QA/QC oversight of controls scope for new construction and retrofits; review vendor proposals and programming.
• Witness factory tests and ensure modifications follow change control.
• Walk installations at key milestones; flag operability and quality issues early.
• Witness Level 3-5 commissioning: point-to-point verification, sequences, failover, alarm verification, trend validation.
