Job summary

Atoms is seeking an experienced project leader to own data center development from design through energization and turnover in San Francisco. You’ll manage cost, schedule, scope, and risk while coordinating electrical, mechanical, structural, and controls work with consultants, GCs, and vendors.

You have 7+ years delivering complex infrastructure projects, including data centers, with strong MEP knowledge. Procore and Bluebeam experience are preferred, and the role offers a competitive base

Qualifications

• 7+ years delivering complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with data center or mission-critical projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and constructability.
• Experience with utility energization, commissioning, turnover.
• Proficient in critical-path scheduling, cost management, procurement, and change management.
• Able to read and challenge drawings, specifications, schedules, estimates, submittals, RFIs, and proposals.
• Self-driven, independent decision maker under aggressive timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and scheduling software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own data center projects from design through energization and turnover, controlling cost, schedule, scope, quality, and risk.
• Help build data center development program from the ground up, establishing standards and playbooks.
• Apply first-principles approach to design and build; challenge industry conventions.
• Drive project execution and identify risks, solving problems before milestones.
• Lead coordination across electrical, mechanical, structural, controls, fire/life safety, and architectural scopes.
• Drive utility coordination, permitting, inspections, energization, and commissioning.
• Manage consultants, general contractors, specialty trades, equipment vendors, and commissioning providers; ensure performance.
• Own procurement and delivery of critical equipment (transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling).
• Review designs, schedules, estimates, change orders; drive decisions rather than admin tasks.
• When problems arise, determine root cause, develop options, and drive resolution.
