Job summary

Insight Global is seeking Infrastructure Technicians II/III for large-scale data center deployments in Abilene, TX. You will install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic, copper, and low-voltage cabling in mission-critical environments.

Senior techs mentor juniors, oversee safety, and lead advanced fiber splicing and troubleshooting. Ideal candidates bring 3–5+ years of structured cabling experience, data center exposure, and proficiency with fiber testing equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ to 5+ years of structured cabling/low-voltage experience.
• Data center experience strongly preferred.
• Experience installing/terminating/testing/troubleshooting fiber and copper cabling.
• Fiber expertise including single-mode/multi-mode installations.
• Experience with fiber testing equipment (Fluke, OTDR, VFL).
• Ability to read blueprints and construction docs.
• Experience installing racks, cabinets, trays, pathways, and related infra.
• Strong knowledge of cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in data centers, confined spaces, heights.
• Strong safety mindset and adherence to site safety protocols.
• Reliable transportation and flexible schedule including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, certify, troubleshoot, and decommission cabling systems.
• Perform fiber optic installations, testing, remediation, and fusion splicing.
• Install/remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, and network infrastructure.
• Conduct Fluke, OTDR, and VFL testing and maintain records.
• Read/execute work from blueprints, drawings, specs, and guidelines.
• Support rack-and-stack activities and equipment installations.
• Label and organize fiber/copper cabling per standards.
• Maintain testing results and project progress records.
• Ensure compliance with site safety, quality, and production standards.
• Troubleshoot cabling/connectivity issues in data centers and communicate updates.
• Mentor junior technicians and assist with material planning and tool mgmt.
