Job summary

Vantage Consulting is seeking an Automation, Controls or SCADA Engineer for data center projects in Frederick, MD. This remote-based role allows working from home when not on site, with up to 50% travel to Maryland, Georgia and Iowa.

You’ll work with BAS/BMS, SCADA, PLCs and EPMS across Niagara, Ignition SCADA, and Schneider/Honeywell/Rockwell systems, delivering reliable automation for mission-critical facilities and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on controls experience in data centers or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with BAS/BMS, SCADA, PLCs, EPMS or controls integration.
• Willing to travel up to 50% and work a remote-based schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform point-to-point checkout, I/O verification, and system startup.
• Support BAS/BMS, EPMS, PLC and SCADA integration.
• Troubleshoot controls, wiring, and network issues.

We're partnering with an established and growing mission-critical automation specialist that's expanding its engineering team to support major data center projects in Frederick, Maryland.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with a background in BAS/BMS, SCADA, PLCs, EPMS or controls integration who want to take their experience into some of the most technically demanding environments in the industry.

Unlike many data center positions, you don't need to relocate. The role offers a remote-based arrangement with up to 50% travel to project sites in Maryland, Georgia and Iowa.

What will you be doing?

Working alongside engineering, construction and commissioning teams, you'll play a key role in delivering reliable automation systems across large-scale data center projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing point-to-point checkout, I/O verification, device configuration and system startup.
• Supporting the integration of BAS, BMS, EPMS, PLC and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshooting controls, wiring, network communications and integration issues.
• Working with automation platforms including Tridium Niagara N4, Ignition SCADA, Honeywell and Rockwell Automation.
• Verifying communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP and OPC UA.
• Supporting commissioning, functional performance testing and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Working with HVAC and critical infrastructure systems including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, UPS and electrical power monitoring.
• Collaborating with site teams, engineers and contractors to resolve technical issues and deliver successful projects.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring where appropriate.
