Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a Data Architect to lead the design and modernization of data architectures powering research applications like FRED.

The role focuses on scalable data platforms, data models, governance, security, and AI/ML innovation to accelerate value for centralized economic data platforms. You will partner with the Application Architect to ensure seamless integration between data platforms and services, work onsite in St.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering or database design in large-scale enterprise cloud data implementations.
• Deep understanding of modern data technology stacks, cloud data platforms (AWS preferred), and enterprise software solutions.
• Experience with data storage technologies, partitioning, caching, and robust security strategies enforcing privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and big data technologies, machine learning and AI data requirements.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL including schema design, partitioning, indexing, and HA configurations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to translate technical topics for diverse audiences.
• Extensive experience leading complex technology projects in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the target data architecture supporting economic data systems.
• Design scalable storage architectures supporting billions of time-series observations and historical revisions.
• Develop metadata schemas for dataset discovery, lineage, and governance.
• Standardize dataset structures and metadata across multiple platforms.
• Implement scalable data processing frameworks for growing data volumes.
• Improve indexing and metadata strategies to support dataset search and discovery.
• Enable advanced analytics for researchers and developers.
• Partner with the Application Architect to optimize data access patterns for APIs and applications.
