Job summary

The Department of Buildings Information Technology team is seeking a Senior Data Architect to design, govern, and optimize the agency’s data ecosystem across Azure, Snowflake, Oracle, and on‑premise platforms in New York City.

You will lead data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data governance initiatives while collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions. Remote work up to 2 days per week is available under the program.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent plus 3+ years managerial IT experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise data architecture across cloud and on-premise platforms.
• Develop and optimize data models to support applications, analytics, and operational systems.
• Lead ETL/ELT development using SSIS, Snowflake, Informatica, and Azure Synapse.
• Establish data lineage, metadata standards, and governance practices for data quality and compliance.
• Architect and optimize data storage, processing, and integration across multiple platforms.
• Design and support API-based integrations ensuring secure data exchange.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical designs.
• Evaluate new technologies to enhance the data ecosystem and support business needs.
• Partner with security teams to ensure data protection and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership to data engineers and analysts.
• Create complex Queries, Functions, Views and Stored Procedures.
