Job summary

NIIC National Interstate Insurance Company in Richfield, OH is seeking a Data Engineer to join the team. The role supports enterprise data architecture, governance, and analytics, with a hybrid work setup 3 days per week in the Richfield office and up to two remote days as needed.

The position emphasizes data modeling, SQL, ETL, and cloud data platforms, with collaboration across business and technology stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Defines and leads the development of enterprise data architectures aligned with strategy and governance.
• Proficient in data modeling, database design, SQL, ETL processes and data integration tools.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills; able to influence across levels.
• Ability to lead data architecture initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Defines and governs enterprise data architecture and data flows to support objectives.
• Leads design and governance of data integration solutions and optimizes databases and data warehouses.
• Establishes standards for data modeling, metadata, governance, quality, security and compliance.
• Analyzes data requirements and guides data acquisition and usage for informed decisions.
• Evaluates emerging data technologies and oversees documentation for architecture and governance.
• Collaborates with senior stakeholders to influence strategic initiatives and priorities.
