Job summary

MathWorks is seeking a highly seasoned Principal Data Architect (individual contributor) to lead enterprise data and AI strategy from Natick, MA. You will own end-to-end execution of complex cross‑functional initiatives and shape scalable data platforms that enable analytics and AI use cases.

In this senior role, you’ll partner with business and technology stakeholders, establish standards, and drive architectural ownership with a focus on responsible AI, metadata, governance, and data products

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with data architecture and enterprise data platforms.
• Experience leading large, cross‑functional data initiatives.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes without formal authority.
• Analytical, structured thinker with autonomous work style.
• Deep understanding of AI data readiness, metadata, data products and lineage.

Responsibilities

• Define and own target-state Data and AI architecture aligned with business goals.
• Establish architectural standards, principles, and best practices across data ecosystem.
• Develop multi-year roadmaps for data platforms, integrations, and AI enablement.
• Design scalable, secure data architectures for analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with business, analytics, and AI teams to prioritize improvements.
