Job summary

Harnham is seeking a visionary Architecture Lead to drive the architecture of a large-scale AI data platform on Google Cloud. You will shape the technical vision, define cloud strategy, and set the foundations for secure data access and scalable delivery.

You will lead architecture workshops, document decisions, and ensure alignment with engineering, data, and AI teams. This role emphasizes security, IAM controls, and enterprise-grade data platforms in a remote US setting.

Qualifications

• Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms on GCP.
• Strong knowledge of cross-cloud architectures including AWS.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform and cloud tooling.
• Designing high-availability REST APIs and GraphQL services.
• Knowledge of IAM, access controls, security governance and compliance.

This is an opportunity to lead the architecture of a large-scale AI data platform that will support advanced AI training, inference, and data access capabilities. You will play a pivotal role in defining the technical vision, shaping cloud strategy, and establishing the architectural foundations for a highly scalable and secure platform.

You will work alongside experienced engineering and data professionals on a highly visible initiative with long-term impact.

The Role and Deliverables

• Lead discovery activities, architecture assessments, and technical design workshops.
• Define and own the solution architecture, design baseline, and architecture decision records.
• Architect a scalable Google Cloud Platform foundation across development, QA, and production environments.
• Design secure, high-availability data access services, APIs, and data delivery mechanisms.
• Establish architectural standards for identity management, entitlement controls, governance, and data security.
• Collaborate with engineering, data, and AI teams to ensure successful delivery of the architectural vision.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong experience designing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Deep knowledge of cross-cloud architectures and integration involving AWS environments.
• Expertise building scalable data platforms, ingestion pipelines, and distributed systems.
• Advanced capability with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Experience designing high-availability REST APIs, GraphQL services, and large-scale data delivery solutions.
• Strong understanding of IAM, access controls, tenant isolation, security governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with stakeholders and produce clear architectural documentation.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning data workflows, data products, or data-as-a-service platforms is advantageous.

Rate: $80-100/hour (depending on experience)
Utilization: 40 hours per week.
