Qualifications

Senior Data Analyst – Analytics, Data & Intelligence

Location: Tampa, FL
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
Contract Length: 6 Months
Rate: $45-$50/hr

Position Overview

The Senior Data Analyst supports the delivery and sustained use of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence solutions by translating business needs into reliable data products, actionable insights, and decision-support tools.

The role independently prepares, analyzes, validates, and visualizes complex data; develops and maintains business intelligence solutions; strengthens data quality and governance; and partners with business and Technology stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle.

The Senior Data Analyst also provides technical guidance, promotes consistent analytical practices, and supports the growth of less-experienced analysts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare, integrate, cleanse, and analyze complex datasets for reports, dashboards, analytics products, and AI-enabled solutions.

  • Design, build, enhance, and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards using tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Excel.

  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches, measures, data requirements, and clear findings that support operational and strategic decisions.

  • Support solution design and prototyping through exploratory analysis, data visualization, and solution feasibility evaluation.

  • Lead or support requirements gathering, data validation, user acceptance testing, deployment readiness, and post-implementation adoption activities.

  • Monitor data quality, investigate errors and anomalies, perform root‑cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions with data owners and technical partners.

  • Support data governance by documenting key fields, calculations, terminology, lineage, controls, and business processes for assigned solutions.

  • Collaborate with business and Technology partners to prioritize analytical needs, communicate findings, and deliver practical, actionable insights.

  • Provide technical guidance, peer review, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to analysts.

  • Contribute to analytical standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Senior‑Level Scope
  • Perform assignments of moderate to high complexity with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment in selecting analytical methods and resolving data issues.

  • Independently manage analysis and reporting work from requirements through validation, delivery, and sustainment.

  • Lead or participate in cross‑functional workstreams and serve as a knowledgeable resource for assigned data domains and analytics solutions.

  • Review work products for accuracy, clarity, usability, and alignment with established standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting efficiency, automation, adoption, and decision support.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or STEM discipline such as:

    • Data Science

    • Analytics

    • Information Systems

    • Computer Science

    • Engineering

    • Mathematics

    • Statistics

    • Related technical field

Experience
  • 2–5 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, data visualization, or a related analytical role.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience developing business intelligence reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI or a similar platform.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational data concepts.

  • Ability to query, join, validate, and reconcile data from multiple sources.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced coursework or graduate degree in a related technical, analytical, or STEM discipline.

  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics or large/complex datasets.

  • Experience within utility operations or technology transformation programs.

  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, Python, machine learning, or AI data solutions.

  • Relevant certifications or training in data analytics, Power BI, SQL, Python, cloud data platforms, data visualization, or Agile delivery.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, including identifying patterns, assessing data quality, investigating anomalies, and communicating implications.

  • Ability to define measures, calculations, data requirements, acceptance criteria, and documentation that support repeatable and trusted analytics.

  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, privacy, security, and responsible use of data and AI.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, collaborate across functions, and deliver accurate work within established timelines.

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle or Agile methodologies, requirements gathering, testing, change readiness, and solution adoption.

  • Ability to mentor peers, provide constructive review, and contribute to analytical standards and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based work in a normal office environment.

  • Hybrid work arrangement requiring 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.

  • Primarily sedentary work involving extended use of a computer and standard office equipment.

  • Occasional travel to company locations or partner sites may be required.

  • Occasional weekend or overtime work, including rotational or project-based support, may be required based on business needs.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a Senior Data Analyst with strong Power BI, SQL, Excel, data visualization, and business intelligence experience who can independently work with complex datasets, translate business needs into analytical solutions, and collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders. Experience with Snowflake, Python, AI/ML, data governance, and enterprise analytics is highly valuable.
