Job Summary

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for providing data-driven insight for key business stakeholders across internal functional areas. This position plays a key role in the identification of trends that drive strategic and operational decision-making, requiring an in-depth understanding of the business, its data, and corresponding technologies. The Senior Analyst is responsible for setting, managing, and meeting deadlines while ensuring the highest level of data accuracy in all work products.

Location: Hybrid to Boston

Key Responsibilities

• Understand business problems, requirements, and expectations and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Extract, transform, manipulate, explore, analyze, and report data using tools including Power BI, Alteryx, Excel, SAS, and SQL.
• Work with business units to identify areas where reports, dashboards, and advanced analytic methodologies can provide sharper decision-making and actionable insights.
• Work with cross-departmental teams to define metrics, guidelines, and strategies for effective use of algorithms and data.
• Develop dashboards and reports for consumption by various levels of users across the organization.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of underwriting, claims, business development, and risk management business functions.
• Establish links across existing data sources and identify new ways to bring disparate data sets together.
• Coordinate data requirements between analytics and IT teams.
• Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.
• Evaluate and recommend new data sources and analytic tools that help end users interface more efficiently with large amounts of data.
• Develop informative visualizations that intuitively display large amounts of data and complex relationships.
• Work closely with the Data Governance body to ensure effective protection, integrity, and high quality of data assets; analyze data quality issues, identify root causes of data defects, and continually seek ways to sustain and strengthen data confidence.
• Work with Data Scientists to assist in data preparation and analysis for use in data models.
• Simplify and explain advanced analytic work to business users and train staff on data definitions, coding structures, data sources, and analytic tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Insurance industry experience required; healthcare experience preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in analytics, informatics, or statistics; advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Knowledge of relational databases and reporting and analysis tools required.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and SQL or similar tools required.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to the highest standards of data accuracy, methodology integrity, and ongoing data quality.
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent teaming, communication, and time management skills.
• Highly self-motivated with strong customer service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced analytic tools (e.g., Alteryx, SAS).
• Healthcare industry experience.
