Job description

At Genworth, we empower families to navigate the aging journey with confidence. We are compassionate, experienced allies for those navigating care with guidance, products, and services that meet families where they are. Further, we are the spouses, children, siblings, friends, and neighbors of those that need care—and we bring those experiences with us to work in serving our millions of policyholders each day. We apply that same compassion and empathy as we work with each other and our local communities. Genworth values all perspectives, characteristics, and experiences so that employees can bring their full, authentic selves to work to help each other and our company succeed. We celebrate our diversity and understand that being intentional about inclusion is the only way to create a sense of belonging for all associates. We also invest in the vitality of our local communities through grants from the Genworth Foundation, event sponsorships, and employee volunteerism.

Our four values guide our strategy, our decisions, and our interactions: Make it human. We care about the people that make up our customers, colleagues, and communities. Make it about others. We do what's best for our customers and collaborate to drive progress. Make it happen. We work with intention toward a common purpose and forge ways forward together. Make it better. We create fulfilling purpose-driven careers by learning from the world and each other.

Your Role
What you will be doing

Act as a senior analytical advisor and trusted partner supporting Long Term Care Claims, Customer Service, and Workforce Management (WFM), delivering insights that directly inform strategic and operational decision-making.

Power BI Development & Best Practices

Design, develop, and own scalable Power BI solutions, including datasets, semantic models, reports, and dashboards aligned to enterprise standards. Apply and promote Power BI best practices related to:

  • Data modeling and DAX
  • Performance optimization and efficient query design
  • Security and role-based access
  • Workspace governance, lifecycle management, and deployment standards

Ensure dashboards and reports are intuitive, well-documented, and optimized for both executive and operational audiences, with a strong focus on data storytelling. Serve as a steward of reporting standards, helping prevent ad hoc, duplicative, or inconsistent reporting solutions across teams.

Advanced Analytics & Insight Generation

Lead the development of complex, highly optimized SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large, structured datasets. Translate ambiguous or complex business questions into well-defined analytical approaches, metrics, and success measures. Go beyond descriptive reporting to deliver diagnostic and forward-looking insights, including forecasting, scenario modeling, capacity planning, and cost-benefit analysis. Proactively identify emerging trends, performance drivers, risks, and opportunities impacting customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes. Present findings and recommendations to senior and executive leadership, delivering clear, compelling, and actionable data-driven narratives.

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

Validate, reconcile, and certify data sourced from multiple teams, systems, and datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs. Proactively identify data quality issues, anomalies, and inconsistencies, applying strong analytical judgment to uncover root causes and upstream process gaps. Partner with source system owners, data engineering, and data governance teams to drive resolution of data issues and prevent recurrence. Establish, document, and reinforce data validation standards, controls, and best practices to improve confidence in reporting and analytics. Apply trend analysis and variance detection techniques to surface potential data or process risks before they materially impact decision-making.

Enablement, Upskilling & Support

Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for Power BI usage, data interpretation, and reporting design. Upskill business and technical teams through coaching, knowledge sharing, documentation, and informal training. Provide troubleshooting and advisory support for Power BI solutions, datasets, and reporting issues, helping teams resolve problems efficiently. Foster a culture of data literacy, shared ownership, and continuous improvement across supported teams. Mentor junior analysts and raise overall analytical maturity through leadership by example.

Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with stakeholders across LTC Claims, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, WFM, and other functions to understand priorities and align analytics to business outcomes. Work collaboratively with data engineering, analytics, and data governance teams to align reporting with enterprise data strategy and evolving data architecture. Coordinate across departments to integrate new data sources and evolve existing reporting as business needs change. Contribute to complex, cross-functional initiatives where analytics and reporting are critical to success, operating independently while engaging leadership for alignment on high-impact decisions.

What you bring

Expert-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights and recommendations. Proven ability to present insights and recommendations to senior and executive leadership with confidence and clarity. Demonstrated experience translating business needs into technical solutions and actionable analytics. Ability to work independently, manage multiple complex priorities, and influence. Naturally curious, highly analytical mindset with a passion for using data to drive strategy and change.

Bachelor’s degree in an analytical, technical, or quantitative discipline (e.g., Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science). 6+ years of progressive experience in data analytics or a related field, with demonstrated impact in complex business environments. Advanced SQL expertise (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent), including query optimization, complex joins, CTEs, and performance tuning. Power BI expert, including data modeling, DAX, visual design best practices, and dashboard storytelling for executive audiences. Strong experience working with large, structured datasets using SQL, Excel, and/or Python. Nice to have Experience with Databricks or modern cloud-based data platforms (highly relevant but not required). Experience with internal Genworth systems or background in the Insurance / Financial Services industry. Experience with TIBCO Spotfire, Business Objects, or similar BI tools. Experience working with Pega (Platform + Data). Master’s degree in a related field. Advanced analytics or modeling experience using Python and/or R.
