Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the data and AI infrastructure that powers our platforms. You will design and operate distributed systems on Kubernetes and cloud foundations, evolving our data tools and AI traffic management.

You will work across application, data, ML, security, and infra teams to establish strong foundations for our next growth stage in a hybrid Seattle, WA role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, owning production systems end to end.
• Strong experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with distributed data infrastructure (Kafka, Spark, Flink) or AI infra.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of cloud and container networking (DNS, load balancing, ingress, TLS, routing).
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java with production software experience.
• Understanding of distributed-systems concepts (availability, consistency, fault tolerance).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automated delivery, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate highly available data and AI infrastructure on Kubernetes and cloud platforms.
• Develop platforms for streaming, batch processing, and real-time workloads (Kafka, Spark, Flink).
• Build AI infrastructure including gateways, model-routing, traffic management, and observability.
• Develop self-service capabilities for teams to deploy workloads safely and independently.
• Collaborate with engineering to translate data/AI requirements into platform capabilities.
