Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Principal Data Architect to guide data and AI architecture across our Retail Technology Data & AI org. This senior individual contributor role will set the technical direction for Azure, Databricks, and Google Cloud platforms, driving scalable, secure data ecosystems in a regulated insurance environment.

You will partner with Retail IT leadership and business domain leads, establish governance, and mentor engineers to deliver end-to-end data products, AI pipelines, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms in cloud environments.
• Proven track record with AI/ML systems and MLOps pipelines.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, or regulated industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the Retail data and AI architecture blueprint across ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving.
• Lead architecture governance, design reviews, and enforce standards across data & AI teams.
• Provide technical liaison between Retail IT leadership, Corporate, and enterprise architecture.
• Mentor senior data engineers and ML engineers to raise architectural quality.
• Evaluate technologies and guide platform decisions for scalable, secure solutions.
