Job summary

Amentum seeks a Senior Subject Matter Expert to support the DARPA MXO program in the Ballston area of Arlington, VA. This full-time, on-site role requires extensive systems engineering, program management, and strategic guidance across industry, academia, and government partners.

Ideal candidates hold a Master of Science and at least 20 years of relevant experience, plus an active Secret clearance. Willingness to travel ~20% and experience with DARPA programs are highly desired.

Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in a relevant engineering, scientific, or technological discipline.
• At least 20 years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Uniquely qualifying research or credentials; recognized as an expert in a highly specialized area.
• Mature judgement to advise senior government personnel on complex matters.
• Ability to make independent decisions on R&D engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide SETA support to DARPA in executing advanced technology, research, and prototype demonstration programs.
• Offer technical and strategic insights to DARPA Program Managers, leadership, IPTs, and R&D communities.
• Identify, develop, and implement new program concepts.
• Provide program management and acquisition support.
• Translate requirements into technology R&D objectives.
• Perform independent technical assessments of new technologies and system designs.
