Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill is seeking a Senior Water Resources / Senior Dam Engineer to lead a growing portfolio of dam repair, removal, and climate-resiliency projects across New England. This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development.

The ideal candidate is a licensed PE with deep dam engineering expertise, strong project management skills, and a passion for resilient, sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or to be obtained.
• 10+ years in water resources and dam engineering with project leadership.
• Strong knowledge of dam safety regulations, codes and standards.
• Experience leading dam repair and removal design efforts.
• Ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports and permit applications.
• Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software and CAD tools.
• Strong communication, mentoring and project management skills.
• Ability to travel 10–15% throughout New England.

Responsibilities

• Lead dam repair and removal projects from planning through design and permitting.
• Develop scopes, fees, schedules and budgets; oversee contracts and delivery.
• Prepare and review engineering analyses, reports, plans, specs and estimates.
• Coordinate permitting and grant applications with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Apply hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to support design and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary teams across New England.
• Support business development including funding strategy and proposals.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers with technical oversight.
