Job summary

Neros Technologies in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to own and mature our security program across cloud and endpoint environments. You’ll architect detection and response capabilities, implement controls, and drive compliance with NIST, ISO, CIS in a fast-moving defense tech startup.

You’ll lead incident response, perform audits and pen tests, automate workflows, and collaborate with leadership to reduce risk while delivering secure, scalable platforms for warfighters.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressively responsible cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Defender XDR, Entra ID Protection, and Azure/M365 controls.
• Proven MDR/SIEM deployment for 24/7 threat monitoring and SOC operations.
• Strong incident response, containment, and stakeholder communication.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-171, NIST CSF, CIS benchmarks, PCI DSS; audits & control assessments.
• Experience with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing across infra, apps and cloud.
• Automation of security workflows and alert tuning; scripting skills helpful.
• Security certifications preferred: CISSP, SANS GIAC, or advanced Microsoft certs.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the enterprise cybersecurity program, owning architecture, detection and response, governance, and automation.
• Engineer and manage the security stack including Defender XDR, endpoint protection, SIEM/MDR, and Azure/M365 controls.
• Lead incident response operations—containment, investigation, remediation—and communicate findings to leadership.
• Perform security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing across infrastructure, apps, and cloud.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and ITAR/NIST-aligned compliance programs.
• Automate security workflows and build detection logic to improve alert fidelity and coverage.
• Establish change control processes and security awareness training programs.
