Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a Cyber and Technology Professional Liability underwriter to join our Chicago or New York offices. The role focuses on underwriting, marketing, and managing cyber/tech liability products, with opportunities for manuscript policy development and client/broker engagement.

Responsibilities include risk selection, broker relationships, portfolio management, service value proposition, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership of fellow underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance or related field.
• Ability to develop strong verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
• Ability to prioritize, strong organizational skills, and navigate computers quickly are preferred.
• An insurance-specific designation, including CPCU or RPLU, is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Risk Selection: evaluates or assesses the business applying for insurance by qualifying accounts; identifying, selecting and assessing risks; determining the premium, policy terms and conditions; loss history review; financials review; obtaining approvals; creating/presenting the proposal to the agent/broker and successfully negotiating deals.
• Agent/Broker Relationships: demonstrates responsiveness and focus on supporting Agents and Brokers objectives through successful negotiations; travels to client meetings and broker meetings.
• Portfolio Management: manages a book of business by analyzing the portfolio, identifying opportunities for growth and diversification, and executing marketing plans to increase market share with preferred brokers.
• Service Value Proposition: understands and articulates the specialized services Ironshore can offer cyber/technology insureds and how they compare to competitors.
• Contributes to development of marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus and broker intelligence.
• Communicates with other product line underwriters, managers and claims analysts to provide comprehensive customer service.
• Documentation: documents files with clear thought processes and decision making.
• Continuous Improvement: participates in daily huddles and problem solving, using CI tools to support team work.
• Leadership: guides, mentors, and coaches underwriters.
