Job summary

Inferno Systems Inc. is seeking an Expert Level Cyber Network Operator in Chantilly, VA. The role focuses on proactive cyber operations, end-to-end penetration testing, and developing exploitation platforms for high-security networks.

You will mentor junior testers, collaborate with partners, and work under tight deadlines to deliver secure, actionable outcomes for complex environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows servers and desktops within the last 5 years.
• Proficiency with Linux distros including CentOS, Debian, RHEL, Ubuntu.
• System administration knowledge across Windows, Unix, Linux, Mac OS, mobile OSs.
• Experience with UNIX system families (Solaris, HP-UX).
• Familiarity with MacOS and BSD-based systems.
• Scripting/automation in C++, Bash, PowerShell, Perl.
• DB familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
• Wireless tech familiarity (WiFi/WiMax/Bluetooth).
• Mobile OS knowledge (Android/iOS).
• Experience with Metasploit, Netcat, BurpSuite, NMAP, Nessus or similar.
• Understanding of IDS/IPS, firewalls, proxies (iptables, Snort).
• Experience managing routers/switches and related tech.
• Understand tool capabilities and limitations.
• Knowledge of technical risk assessment and network operations.
• Experience in virtual environments (VMware, KVM).
• Knowledge of network architecture, protocols, data flows.
• Understanding of Internet basics and ISPs.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both spoken and written.
• Understanding of exploit methodologies and network scanning/vulnerability analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct end-to-end penetration testing and exploitation platform development.
• Mentor junior testers and support team projects under tight deadlines.
• Attack and persist in customer networks while avoiding detection in high-security environments.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners to operationalize exploits and countermeasures.
