Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Cyber Detection Incident Analyst to protect GM’s global enterprise. You will drive detection engineering, lead complex investigations, and improve analytics across cloud, identity, endpoint, network, apps, and manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate blends deep technical expertise with threat-focused analysis and cross-functional collaboration to enhance GM’s cybersecurity posture. This hybrid role reports to GM’s Cyber Detection leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity experience with detection, SOC, IR, threat hunting, or related areas.
  • Experience with enterprise SIEM platforms and log-centric detection approaches.
  • Experience tuning detections using correlation logic, analytics, and threat intel.
  • Strong knowledge of endpoint security and EDR technologies.
  • Experience investigating events across endpoints, networks, cloud, identity, and apps.
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and attacker TTPs; scripting skills in Python/PowerShell.
  • Ability to lead investigations and mentor teammates; comfortable in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced investigations of complex security incidents and high-severity escalations.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize detection logic across SIEM, EDR, NDR, SOAR and cloud platforms.
  • Conduct threat hunting to uncover adversary behaviors and gaps in detection.
  • Apply MITRE ATT&CK, threat intel, and analytics to improve coverage and accuracy.
  • Design, tune, and validate analytics to reduce false positives and improve alerts.
  • Develop automation and enrichment workflows using scripting and security orchestration.
  • Collaborate with Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, Cloud Security, and Product Security teams.
  • Mentor analysts and detection engineers, guiding best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive continuous improvements to visibility, investigative efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate new technologies and AI capabilities to advance GM’s detection maturity.
