Job summary

gpac is seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) in Schaumburg, IL to join the quality team in a hands-on shop-floor role. You will inspect welded components, ensure compliance with customer and code requirements, and train welders while conducting qualification tests.

Key duties include welding inspection, reviewing drawings and standards (AWS D1.1, WPS/PQR), and collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Quality to improve weld quality.

Qualifications

• CWI certification and 3+ years welding inspection in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 and related welding codes.
• Ability to read drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T.
• Experience training welders and mentoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual, in-process, and final inspection of welded components and assemblies.
• Verify welds meet customer specs, drawings, WPS/PQR, and AWS standards.
• Read blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T; interpret requirements.
• Train and mentor welders and conduct weld tests for new hires.
• Maintain welder qualification and testing records and documentation.
