Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee visual weld inspections, review fabrication documentation, and witness qualification tests across shop and field environments. You will direct NDT and ensure compliance with project codes while producing inspection and nonconformance reports for engineers and officials.

The role requires a current AWS CWI with at least 2 years of inspecting under it, plus strong knowledge of D1.1 and at least one other relevant

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting special inspector certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it for retest.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with acceptance/rejection authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct NDT.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and building official.
