Job summary

System One seeks a Cultural Resources Technical Writer to support a large federal infrastructure program. The candidate will independently develop, edit, and quality-check cultural resources deliverables while collaborating with field teams, GIS specialists, and project managers.

The role requires experience in archaeology, strong writing/editing skills, and familiarity with Section 106 and NEPA processes. Collaboration with SHPOs/THPOs and tribal reps is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or closely related field.
  • At least five years of cultural resource management experience in the western United States.
  • Experience writing and editing cultural resources technical reports.
  • Knowledge of Section 106, NEPA, and National Register eligibility evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review cultural resources work plans, reports, and monitoring documentation.
  • Interpret archaeological field data for Section 106 and NEPA documentation.
  • Assess resources and develop NRHP eligibility recommendations.
  • Review field records and GIS data for accuracy and consistency.
  • Coordinate with SHPOs, THPOs, and tribal representatives.
  • Produce clear deliverables meeting client, agency, and project deadlines.
