Job summary

MITRE Corporation is seeking a senior engineer to join the Cryptography, ICAM, and System Assurance team. You will contribute to nuclear codes and cryptography efforts for Air Force weapon systems, performing analysis, design validation, and strategic modernization work at Hill AFB, UT, with potential travel to remote ANA sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience, or 6+ years with a Master’s, or PhD with 3+ years of experience.
• Familiarity with National Security System cryptography and cybersecurity requirements.
• Demonstrated success applying cybersecurity knowledge to conduct systems engineering analyses.
• Ability to summarize technical concepts clearly in writing and presentations.
• Active Secret U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• On-site work requirement (5 days a week).

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering analysis of contractor design in cybersecurity, NC2 cryptography, nuclear codes, and related cryptographic services.
• Evaluate and validate cryptographic capabilities to meet weapon system and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Advise senior leaders on COMSEC devices and algorithms; prepare and present technical briefings.
• Research capabilities and processes for system resilience and security.
• Develop cryptographic roadmaps and modernization plans for Air Force weapon systems.
