Job summary

Helix BioStructures, LLC in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks a Senior Scientist to lead cryo-EM structure determination on client programs, from sample preparation to EMDB/PDB deposition. The role includes expressing and purifying recombinant proteins for cryo-EM-grade samples and frequent client interactions.

You will mentor junior staff, set technical standards, and help scope prospective projects. This is an on-site, non-hybrid role with opportunities to contribute across the Protein Sciences

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience taking cryo-EM projects from sample to final structure.
• Experience with grid preparation and vitrification.
• Experience collecting data on 200 kV/300 kV microscopes using EPU/SerialEM.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and manage client-facing deliverables.
• Experience expressing/purifying proteins for cryo-EM samples.

Responsibilities

• Own cryo-EM structure determination from sample to deposition.
• Express and purify recombinant proteins for cryo-EM-grade samples.
• Write technical reports and present results to clients.
• Mentor junior staff and set technical standards.
• Coordinate with clients on feasibility and scoping for projects.
• Prepare SOPs for sample prep and data processing.
