Job summary

Best Egg, now part of Barclays, is a tech-enabled financial platform focused on lending solutions and financial health tools. This Senior Credit Strategy Analyst will optimize credit strategies for personal loans, using data and credit experience to maximize underwriting and loan amounts while maintaining investor returns.

The role partners with Decision Science, monitors Champion/Challenger tests, and provides scenario analyses to inform strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an analytical role with credit risk focus
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; Master’s preferred
• Experience in financial services, online lending, or near-prime/sub-prime a plus
• Proficiency in Python or similar, SQL, and Excel
• Experience with BI reporting tools (Tableau/PowerBI) desirable
• Excellent written/verbal English, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
• Independent, data-driven, and able to influence decisions with insights
• Ability to understand economic trends and competitive impacts
• High energy and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

The Senior Credit Strategy Analyst will be a critical member of the Credit team and will be responsible for using a combination of data and credit experience to optimize credit strategies for personal loans. Responsibilities include maximizing Underwriting and Loan amount decisions across acquisition channels, driving strategy improvement and innovation, monitoring of Champion/Challenger data while maintaining investor returns.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring, refining and developing Credit strategies (including underwriting and loan amount) for personal loans
• Create test/control champion/challenger tests and monitoring to inform future strategies
• Provide scenario analysis/ create financial impact sizing/ develop new strategy test case
• Perform ad‑hoc analytics, create reporting and presentations
• Work across functional areas to drive overall growth, product enhancements, and improve web funnel conversion rates across all channels.
• Partner with Decision Science to define and develop Credit models and tools
• Maintain overall risk and return targets for investors particularly in a changing economic environment.

Qualifications – 1

• 5+ years experience in a similar analytical role
• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Engineering, other quantitative major required; Master’s degree a plus
• Experience in financial industry, credit risk required; online lending, near‑prime, sub‑prime is a plus
• Must be proficient in Python or similar, SQL, and MS Excel
• Must be proficient in interpreting data using analytics, research methodologies, and statistical techniques
• Previous experience with Business Intelligence reporting (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, etc) is desirable
• Excellent English written/verbal communication skills, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
• Highly independent and self‑motivated to forming opinions that are supported by data.
• Strong knowledge of modeling tools and techniques and use in strategy
• Ability to understand competitive pressure, economic trends and their business impacts.
• High Energy with ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
