Job summary

JPMorgan Chase, in its Risk Management and Compliance division, seeks a Credit Risk Director to lead the Community Development Banking team. You will manage credit officers, evaluate transactions, and oversee a portfolio of LIHTC projects from approval through permanent financing.

You will guide staff in preparing credit packages, ensure adherence to risk policies, and drive strong, well-supported credit decisions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in community development real estate.
• Experience in affordable housing finance, including Low Income Housing Tax Credits and subsidy financing.
• Excellent teamwork and customer service, consistently delivering on commitments to colleagues and clients.
• Leadership and analytical skills, with experience synthesizing information, developing recommendations, making decisions, and problem solving.
• Project management skills, demonstrating organization, timeliness, execution, and collaboration.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a team of credit risk professionals in preparing and reviewing credit packages, including development budgets and project economics.
• Own the approval process for new loans, modifications and reviews; provide recommendations to senior management on complex transactions.
• Understand and apply firm risk management and control policies to ensure compliance and support decision-making.
• Contribute to LIHTC lending policies and guidance within the firm.
• Oversee accuracy and consistency of analyses conducted by direct reports.
• Emphasize attention to detail and high-quality work product in credit decisions.
• Manage project delegation, closing timelines and portfolio maintenance across Credit Officers.
• Understand third-party reports, construction loan documents, structuring and loan negotiation.
• Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders.
• Attend site visits and industry events.
