Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst in the Borrowing team to shape its credit strategy for card products. You’ll work across product, engineering, data science, and risk to drive sustainable growth and strong customer outcomes.

The role blends analytical rigor with strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment. You’ll influence underwriting, pricing, and limit management while partnering with teams across the business to optimise performance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in unsecured lending, ideally within credit cards.
• Strong understanding of credit card economics (APR, utilisation, interchange, revolving behaviour).
• Experience building or influencing credit strategies (underwriting, limit management, pricing).
• Strong analytical and data capabilities, backed up by technical coding skills (SQL required).

Responsibilities

• Design and refine credit underwriting and limit strategies to optimise risk and growth.
• Analyse portfolio performance and identify actionable insights.
• Build and interpret NPV and profitability models for strategic decisions.
• Develop segmentation frameworks to identify revenue and risk pressure points.
• Lead deep-dives into portfolio trends and emerging risks.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to test new features and strategy changes.
• Evaluate pricing, eligibility, and limit decisions for impact.
• Present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Support regulatory and governance requirements.
