The Role

We are looking for a Senior Creative Director with a copy background to lead bold, strategic, and story-driven concepts for milestone events and stakeholder communications, one of your key clients will be a leading organization in the pharmaceutical industry. You’ll help shape big-picture strategy, drive creative direction, write for senior leaders, and build strong partnerships with client leaders. This is a player-coach role. Sometimes you will roll up your sleeves and do the work; other times you will delegate and provide a strong POV.

We’re looking for someone who can turn business goals into compelling narratives and experiences, mentor a creative team, and thrive in a client-facing role. Experience in the B2B event space, with professional services or pharmaceutical clients is a major plus. You understand the art of authentic relationship building and earning internal and external trust. This role also involves on-site presence at events, so comfort with live execution and creative problem-solving is required. We value creativity, collaboration, and growth. Day to day, your role will look different. Some days you may be running point, others you are delegating to a more junior team. You must be flexible and savvy. This full-time role offers a competitive salary of $165,000–$180,000, plus a 10% annual bonus, reporting into the Group Creative Director. The annual salary listed is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset.

We offer flexible, hybrid work from our Chicago home base or remote work from a major metro area. Travel is required 1–2 times per quarter for client events and team collaboration.

What You’ll Do

Creative Concepting, Leadership and Oversight

  • Lead creative development for key clients, from concept to execution, ensuring all team output meets the highest standards of quality and creativity.
  • Own 2-3 primary project streams and support new business opportunities as needed.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for event journeys; crafting impactful, emotionally resonant experiences for attendees that align with client objectives.
  • Oversee work of junior creatives

Writing & Messaging

  • Lead content development across executive presentations, scripts, and event materials.
  • Write and shape copy that is clear, emotional, and aligned with client voice and brand.
  • Partner with designers to ensure storytelling and visuals are fully integrated.

Client Relationship Building

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and become a strategic partner.
  • Communicate with confidence and clarity—on calls, in rooms, and on stage.
  • Be present and engaged with clients during live events, managing creative execution and edits onsite.
  • Stay sharp on industry trends, cultural shifts, and new technologies.
  • Continuously push creative boundaries and bring fresh thinking to every engagement.

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years in a creative agency or related environment, with expertise in event strategy, communications, and client leadership.
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating thoughtful, strategic creative direction in milestone events and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong, persuasive presentation skills to sell in creative work to internal and external stakeholders
  • Team leadership experience with a focus on mentoring, collaboration, and inclusive communication.
  • Strong strategic thinking and writing skills—you can turn insights into compelling, action-oriented ideas.
  • Confident, articulate communicator with a track record of building trusted, long-term client relationships.
  • Experience in professional services or pharmaceuticals is a plus.
  • Comfortable with research, social trends, and AI.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Keynote, and project management tools like monday.com.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective at managing complex projects under pressure.
  • Pride in your previous work and the ability to speak to it clearly and concisely during the interview process
