Job summary

General Motors in Flint is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the crankshaft machining line, delivering safe, high-quality processes and ramping up production. You will partner across engine machining, engine assembly, and product engineering to align launch deliverables and ensure plant readiness.

This onsite role requires 5+ years' experience, GD&T expertise, PPAP knowledge, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years total professional experience.
• 1–3 years crankshaft or rotating-component machining launch experience including PPAP and ramp-up.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and the ability to interpret part prints and translate design intent into process and gaging decisions.
• Data-driven problem-solving and root-cause analysis experience.
• Ability to teach others and support team capability growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including escalation and alignment with engineering, operations, and OEM partners.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including off-shift, holiday, and weekend support.

Responsibilities

• Lead crankshaft line execution from installation and qualification through PPAP, ramp-up, and handoff.
• Drive throughput while protecting safety, quality, and uptime.
• Own launch deliverables and close tooling, gaging, control plan, and error-proofing actions.
• Lead OEM/contractor reviews and coordinate audits and signoffs.
• Maintain 30- and 60-day look-ahead reports and Launch Wall updates.
• Align Program, Engineering, Manufacturing, engine machining, and engine assembly teams for readiness.
• Manage PFMEAs, control plans, and tooling drawings.
