Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a Pharmacy / Admixture Technician to join our team! This role supports the Pharmacy Department at our Plano Presbyterian location. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The position level (1, 2, or Sr) will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

Role Responsibilities

The Pharmacy / Admixture Tech, supervised by a physician or registered pharmacist, performs technical tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. Tasks are verified by licensed professionals and comply with US Oncology standards and state laws regarding compounding or mixing responsibilities.

Essential Duties
  • Prepare medication orders through compounding or admixing under supervision
  • Verify order completeness, patient information, and physician authorization
  • Check insurance approval before admixing
  • Accurately prepare drugs, calculate dosages, and maintain proper documentation
  • Count controlled drugs weekly and keep detailed records
  • Maintain drug information, MSDS sheets, and dispose of materials properly
  • Ensure drug expiration checks, temperature logs, and protocol documentation are up to date
  • Manage medication inventory, order supplies, and prepare labels and billing documents
Qualifications

Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent; 0-3 years pharmacy experience.

Level 2: 3-5 years pharmacy experience with IV skills; IV certification preferred; Pharmacy Technician certification recommended.

Level Sr: 5-7 years pharmacy experience with IV skills; oncology background preferred; completion of an accredited program recommended.

Physical Demands

Includes manual dexterity, manual and finger coordination, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Requires full range of motion, vision, and hearing, with accommodations available for disabilities.
