Job summary

York County Government seeks a seasoned County Attorney to provide professional legal representation, advice, and counsel to County Council, its Boards and Commissions, and county departments. This role supports governance, analyzes complex issues, and ensures compliance across operations.

Responsibilities include drafting ordinances, attending meetings, and directing the Office of the County Attorney and Risk Management.

Qualifications

• JD required for county attorney role.
• Bar in SC must be active and in good standing; admitted to federal courts.

Responsibilities

• Acts as general counsel for York County, advising Council, boards, and departments.
• Attends meetings, provides legal guidance in executive sessions, and handles appeals and litigation.
• Drafts, reviews, and provides counsel on ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and legal policies.
• Oversees Office of the County Attorney and risk management; coordinates with outside counsel as needed.
