Job summary

Alachua County seeks a Senior Assistant County Attorney to join its in-house legal team. This role emphasizes public service, collaborative work, and advising County staff on complex legal matters, including litigation and regulatory compliance.

The attorney will handle procurement and real estate matters, may appear before public boards, and could work on matters outside primary practice areas. A hybrid schedule may be available based on client needs.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Membership in the Florida Bar Association and licensure to practice in Florida.
• Five years of progressively responsible legal experience including litigation.

Responsibilities

• Litigate in designated areas; prepare pleadings, discovery documents, motions, briefs and other legal documents.
• Advise County officers with legal matters and represent departments, officials, boards and commissions.
• Prepare resolutions, ordinances and other proposed legislation of a complex nature.
• Attend meetings of the county commission and other client groups; manage matters independently with sound judgment.
