The Global Practice for Economic Policy (EP):
The Economic Policy Global Practice leads the World Bank Group’s engagement with clients on macroeconomics, economic growth, fiscal policy, and trade. EP connects macroeconomic dialogue with programs aimed at expanding the private sector's role in economic development and job creation. We support Ministries of Finance, Central Banks, and Ministers of Economy, Planning, Trade, and Production in their reform efforts for faster, inclusive, and resilient growth.
Economic Policy in Eastern and Southern Africa:
We seek a skilled and energetic Senior Country Economist based in Washington, D.C., passionate about addressing complex development challenges, adaptable to a dynamic environment, with broad and deep technical expertise, strong results orientation, and effective policy dialogue skills.
The Senior Country Economist will report to the EP Practice Manager for the EAEM2 unit, which covers 14 countries across three Country Management Units: AECS1, AECS2, and AECE3. The role involves leading and contributing to operations, analytical work, and advisory services, especially in countries with increasing work programs focused on structural reforms, economic transformation, and job creation.
Responsibilities include engaging in policy dialogue on economic growth and macro-fiscal issues, leading analytical work, and supporting lending operations in collaboration with country teams.
