Job summary

CN Guidance & Counseling Services, Inc. seeks a full-time Counselor to assist the Program Supervisor in managing a residential program for individuals with psychiatric disabilities.

The role includes staff training, direct resident care, counseling, and coordination of services to ensure a safe, homelike environment. The position requires a High School Diploma and at least 6 months of mental health related experience.

• Document resident interactions and progress per agency standards.
• Oversee program and resident finances and fire safety training.
• Participate in QA meetings and ensure documentation is current.

Job description

JOB DEFINITION:

Assist the Program Supervisor in managing the daily operations of a residential program providing housing and supports to people with psychiatric disabilities.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

6 months of experience in a mental health related field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist Supervisor in initial and ongoing training of staff.
2. Provide direct care services and assist Supervisor in establishing staffing patterns and securing site coverage as needed.
3. Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
4. Monitor, train and assist residents in all programs in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment. Directly participate in household maintenance activities when required.
5. Provide training, supervision and assistance to residents in daily activities including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
6. Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
7. Provide residents in licensed housing programs with restorative services appropriate to their needs, treating residents with dignity and respect.
8. Document interactions with residents and resident progress in accordance with agency policies and standards.
9. Assist Supervisor in the oversight of the sites to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment.
10. Supervise the day-to-day management of the residence in cooperation with the Supervisor, including food purchases, recreational activities, meal planning and personal care activities of residents.
11. Assist in oversight of program and resident finances.
12. Oversee fire safety training activities and ensures fire drills are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
13. Oversee and participate in all Medicaid billable activities under leadership of the Supervisor, and/or ensure that all documentation is current and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
14. Participate in weekly Senior Counselor Quality Assurance meetings
15. Oversee management of medications in compliance with agency policies
16. Maintain collateral contacts with outside service providers and participates in case conferences as scheduled.
17. Assist Supervisor in oversight of records and ensures appropriate documentation of client activities as well as the maintenance of client records in accordance with agency standards.
18. Provide transportation as needed using personal vehicle when agency vehicle is not available.
19. Promptly report all emergencies, incidents, maintenance and safety issues to the Supervisor
20. Co-lead team meetings as scheduled.
21. Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress
22. Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

FULL-TIME COUNSELOR WILL RECEIVE A $750 BONUS AFTER 60 DAYS AND AN ADDITIONAL $1,000 BONUS AFTER 8 MONTHS.
