ACLU of New Jersey in Newark, NJ seeks a Staff Attorney to Senior Counsel with a focus on voting rights and democracy. Hybrid schedule; office in Newark on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Responsible for developing civil rights litigation, advocacy strategies, and engaging with communities and officials.

The role offers opportunities to lead and collaborate within a 14+ member legal team, participate in high-impact cases, and advance the ACLU-NJ’s mission to protect civil liberties.

Competenze

• The candidate should have strong litigation experience and a demonstrated record of legal analysis, writing, and advocacy.
• Experience with protecting voting rights and democracy is preferred.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar or ability to obtain it within 12 months is required.

• Identify opportunities to expand voting rights and evaluate litigation strategies under NJVEA.
• Engage in integrated advocacy campaigns, draft materials, and conduct outreach to public officials.
• Argue cases, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, conduct discovery, and handle appeals as needed.
