Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Senior Counsel, Transactions, to identify and resolve highly complex legal issues and draft and negotiate sophisticated corporate transactions. The attorney should regularly negotiate sophisticated agreements, manage due diligence, and advise on strategic matters impacting AbbVie’s business.

The role requires JD with strong experience in M&A and pharmaceutical licensing, plus the ability to guide junior lawyers and collaborate across functions.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the job location.
• Minimum of 4 years of legal experience; in-house or healthcare compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve highly complex legal issues and draft/ negotiate complex corporate transactions.
• Negotiate sophisticated agreements with third parties on strategic matters impacting AbbVie's business.
• Manage due diligence and interpret complex agreements, advising on transactional matters.
• Select and direct outside counsel, define objectives, and oversee project progress.
• Ensure compliance with applicable corporate policies and procedures.
