The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) seeks General Attorneys (Senior Counsels) for the Enforcement Litigation Group in Washington, DC. The OGC advises the Commission, Commissioners, and divisions on federal securities laws and related rules.

Qualifying experience may be in private or public sectors. Applicants must meet basic requirements and demonstrate the ability to prepare complex legal documents and provide informed legal advice on compliance matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.B. degree required.
• Active membership of the bar in good standing in any state, DC, or Puerto Rico required.
• Minimum three years of post-J.D. work experience with identifying legal issues, analyses, and document prep.
• Experience in investigations and/or litigation related to federal securities laws.
• Ability to provide written and oral legal advice based on analyses.

Responsibilities

• Identify legal issues and provide analyses and recommendations.
• Prepare legal documents, such as opinions, briefs, pleadings, and motions.
• Conduct legal research on federal securities laws and related topics.
• Support investigations and active litigation activities within enforcement matters.
