Laine is a legal software company built by attorneys, delivering partner-level drafting and analysis without changing lawyers' workflows. We are expanding in the U.S.

from Austin and seek an experienced attorney with a strong Texas focus to join our LegalTech team in Austin, Texas. You will serve as the legal expert on our products, adapting templates to Texas law, testing platform compliance, and contributing to AI-assisted drafting tools.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active Texas Bar license, in good standing.
• At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a US law firm and/or in-house legal department with a transactional focus.
• Strong autonomous contract drafting and review skills across commercial and corporate agreements.

Responsibilities

• Act as the legal expert on our products guiding development with product and technology teams.
• Build out, refine and adapt contract templates to Texas law and contribute to playbooks and guidance.
• Test the platform for compliance with Texas law and propose improvements to templates and outputs.
• Provide structured legal input for the development of AI-assisted drafting tools.

About the Job

We are looking for an experienced attorney with a strong background in US contract drafting to join our growing LegalTech team in Austin, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the legal expert on our products guiding their development and working closely with the product and technology teams to keep the platform reliable and accurate
• Build out, refine and adapt contract templates to Texas law, and contribute to playbooks and practical guidance that strengthen the quality of outputsli>
• Test the platform for compliance with, and relevance to, Texas law, flagging gaps and proposing improvements to templates and automated outputs
• Provide structured legal input that supports the ongoing development and refinement of our AI assisted drafting tools

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Active Texas Bar license, in good standing (required)
• At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a US law firm and/or an in house legal department, with a strong focus on transactional matters
• Strong, autonomous contract drafting and review skills across commercial and corporate agreements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in AI, tech, SaaS or LegalTech environments
• Exposure to contract automation, template based drafting, or review of automated outputs
• Familiarity with multijurisdictional or international contract structures
