Job summary

The Securities and Exchange Commission, Division of Investment Management, Rulemaking Office, seeks a Senior Special Counsel (Attorney-Adviser) to lead Investment Company Act rulemaking and provide expert legal and policy analysis. The ideal candidate will develop recommendations and rule text, manage complex regulatory projects, and coordinate with the Commission and external stakeholders to advance major regulatory initiatives.

Applicants must have a J.D. or LL.B.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.B. degree and active bar membership in good standing in any state, DC, PR.
• Proof of bar membership required before entry on duty.
• Minimum: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to SK-14, providing legal advice through interpreting federal securities laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead Investment Company Act rulemaking and related regulatory projects.
• Provide expert legal and policy analysis to advance regulatory initiatives.
• Develop recommendations and draft rule text for Commission consideration.
• Coordinate across the Commission and with external stakeholders on key regulatory initiatives.
• Manage complex regulatory projects and ensure timely delivery of work products.
