Job summary

Airbnb’s Legal team is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel, Litigation to own high-stakes disputes from initial assessment through resolution. Based in California, you will direct outside counsel, partner with Compliance and Public Policy, and shape our approach across borders as Airbnb grows.

This role requires 8+ years of significant litigation, active California bar membership, and a JD from an accredited law school.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
• 8+ years of significant litigation practice and end-to-end ownership.
• Active California bar membership in good standing; Florida a plus.
• Experience in commercial tort, regulatory, tax controversy, class actions.
• Prepared witnesses for deposition and trial; managed outside counsel.
• Experience with technology companies is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to advocate clearly.
• Organized, self-directed, able to manage multiple matters.
• Familiarity with California JCCPs is a plus; travel as needed.
• Passion for travel and home sharing; aligned with Airbnb mission.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic leader on a diverse portfolio of complex litigation.
• Handle sensitive matters with judgment, discretion, and care.
• Manage outside counsel across the full lifecycle of a case.
• Lead matters from early assessment through depositions and settlements.
• Provide practical risk mitigation advice to business clients.
• Collaborate with compliance, policy, and legal teams across borders.
• Analyze legal risk in product development and new services.
• Build scalable processes for a rapidly growing global business.
