The Zillow Group Legal and Compliance Department is a dedicated team of skilled (and fun!) legal professionals who enjoy working in a collegial environment within an innovative tech, real estate, and media company. This role is part of the Business Lines Legal Team, which provides frontline support for Zillow’s products and services.

About The Role

We are looking for an outstanding attorney to support our Premier Agent Flex business. This attorney will serve as the legal point-of-contact for the Flex agent partner network, handling a broad range of legal matters including real estate regulatory and licensing issues, product development, data licensing, marketing, claim substantiation, trust & safety protocols, and customer support escalations.

Supporting Premier Agent Flex requires a strong understanding of the legal landscape for tech-forward real estate brokerages, teams, and agents. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders within Legal, Compliance, and other shared services, and will be expected to learn new areas of law while leveraging subject matter experts as needed. Demonstrated expertise in supporting real estate brokerage activities and product development, providing creative solutions, and building strong relationships is essential.

In this role, you will:

• Serve as the legal point of contact and subject matter expert for Premier Agent Flex, supporting all aspects of our referral-based business, including product design, marketing collateral, vendor contracts, customer service scripts, data privacy, and disclosures.
• Embed with business partners to provide pragmatic legal counsel on issues of first impression, pilot programs, and key initiatives.
• Partner proactively with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve legal issues related to privacy, fair housing, finance, compliance, risk, real estate licensing, marketing, and communications.
• Analyze legislative changes impacting our Flex business and work with government relations and product teams on implementation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate brokerage referral fee agreements.
• Collaborate with internal teams including privacy, finance, tax, risk management, and information security.

This role is categorized as a Remote position, allowing work from any location in the U.S., with specific pay ranges applicable to certain states.

Who you are

• 5-8+ years of legal experience, preferably in real estate brokerage or a tech company.
• JD with active state bar admission.
• Experience with real estate regulations, RESPA, licensing laws, marketing, and data privacy.
• Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
