Job description

Senior Environmental Counsel

Prominent energy company has engaged Pye Legal Group to recruit a senior environmental counsel with 7+ years environmental experience to join their specialized team. This is a new position that will provide advice on a broad range of sophisticated environmental issues including regulatory, permitting, enforcement, compliance management, safety, transactional and environmental liability issues. The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in one or more environmental areas (air, water, waste, remediation, safety). This is a highly visible role working directly with management and business clients on pressing and recurring environmental issues.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee a diverse docket of environmental regulatory, administrative, and enforcement matters
  • Support internal HES investigations/audits and manage outside counsel
  • Advise on pertinent environmental policy, regulatory, and legislative developments
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on environmental components of complex commercial transactions
Required Qualifications
  • Sophisticated environmental experience with administrative proceedings and enforcement matters; strong advocacy and negotiation skills; thorough working knowledge of regulatory compliance and environmental permitting
  • 7+ years post J.D. law experience at a top‑tier law firm and excellent academic credentials. Current active admission to a U.S. Bar required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and function independently managing competing deadlines.
  • Ideal candidate will have superb interpersonal skills and be a proactive team player with inherent sound business judgment.
