Job summary

Fortiss, LLC seeks an experienced Senior Counsel to join its Legal Department in Bell Gardens, CA. You will advise senior leaders on employment practices, organizational decisions and proposed changes, while monitoring legislation and regulations and preparing opinions and analyses.

The role includes managing litigation, supervising outside counsel, and ensuring California cardroom regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, legal research, writing, and negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant litigation experience.
• Ability to manage cases independently; discovery, motions, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial prep.
• Working knowledge of California gambling law and regulatory framework.
• Direct client-contact experience and the ability to advise stakeholders.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral communication skills.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with sound judgment.
• Willingness to travel in California and pass drug screen/background check.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage litigation, regulatory inquiries and audits through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategies aligned with business priorities and risk tolerance.
• Coordinate with outside counsel when needed.
• Advise on federal, state and local regulatory requirements affecting California cardroom industry.
• Provide proactive risk management and compliance guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy and program development; monitor regulatory developments.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Active California Bar membership
