California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) seeks an Attorney III to independently handle the most complex and sensitive legal assignments within the Legal Services Division. The role requires high expertise and independent discretion on issues with potential public safety, policy, and fiscal consequences.

Under the Assistant Chief Counsel, the Attorney III provides complex program advice, litigation support, and compliance guidance, while supporting policy makers and daily

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency management including planning, preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery.
• Experience with employment and labor law, including counseling, discipline, leave requests and workplace investigations.
• Experience conducting administrative hearings before state boards and departments.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and giving advice on contracts and procurements.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, analyzing, negotiating, or editing legal documents (opinions, contracts, data sharing agreements).
• Experience interpreting California Public Records Act and related acts and regulations.
• Experience handling or monitoring litigation.
