Job summary

State of California, Department of State Hospitals, seeks an Attorney III to provide senior-level legal support on complex issues affecting facility operations. You will draft and review contracts, advise on employment law, regulations, and litigation, and train staff across divisions.

The role requires strong research and advocacy skills, experience with policy and risk management, and the ability to work with executive leadership and external counsel.

Qualifications

• Legal research on broad/specialized areas affecting hospital operations.
• Drafting/reviewing contracts and advising on negotiations.
• Experience with employment law, regulations, legislation, and civil litigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level legal support to DSH Director, executives, and divisions.
• Draft/review contracts; participate in contract negotiations; represent DSH in employment litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Offer training and legal guidance to DSH staff; respond to inquiries from Governor’s Office and state agencies.
